A-1 CARE STUDIES
Dedicated Professionals
I wanted to express our appreciation for excellent service, care, and understanding that you provided while our mother was your client.
The A-1 Action caregivers were uniformly excellent. They demonstrated this in how they cared for her and were truly caring and concerned for her well being. The caregivers were professional, skilled, understanding and sympathetic. They not only helped her through her last days but also assisted the family with their concern and advice.
I also wanted to thank Robert and Mark for the time they spent on the phone with us. Both of them were very patient and understanding. Their advice was very much appreciated.

Our Extended Family
My mother was admitted to rehab for two broken feet. My sister and I both lived in a different state, my father was in no condition to take care of her, and we could not leave her alone. The rehab center provided us with a list of agencies that offered home care and A-1 Action was one of those listed.
As soon as I called A-1, I immediately knew that I had found "home." The family owned business was easy to work with, compassionate and understanding, and they provided us with a caregiver as soon as we got mom back home. There was no delay, no lengthy processing, or a zillion evaluations to find out what my parents needed. After six years with them, I feel like I have new friends and certainly I would never have been able to get through parental care without them. In other words, they became family.

Our Extended Family (continued)
The caregivers from the agency were amazing. My mother and father continued to deteriorate through the years and we needed 24/7 care. Both of the main caregivers we had were extremely invested in my parents' well being, and had patience, compassion and understanding of my aging parents' mental and physical decline. Substitute caregivers that filled in from time to time were more than qualified and again had a deep understanding of the aging brain and body.
My mother and father were admitted to Hospice care toward the end of their lives, but Hospice does not provide round the clock in-home care, so I still needed A-1's help. Our caregivers would not leave to take another job, even though they knew this one was ending, they remained with us to the very end.

Home Alone
My mom was approaching her mid 80's and needed help with her daily routine and medications. She didn't want to leave her home, just needed some extra help with her daily routine.
A-1 Action Nursing Care sent us a wonderful nursing aide to help my mom with her daily shower, administer her correct medications and dosage, and spend quality time in conversation and companionship.
My mom is now able to live more independently and stay in her home as a result of your help. The nurse's aide was kind and compassionate and my mom felt safe and taken care of. We are grateful for your quick and helpful response and are relieved that she is happy and safe!

5 Reasons Why Home Care is Best
Many people believe incorrectly that private duty home care is not a viable option for them as they age. Lack of affordability, as well as the lack of trusted caregivers, are two common misconceptions about receiving quality home care. Fortunately, excellent home health care that is both affordable and trustworthy is definitely available.
As we age, we typically want to remain at home, comforted by our familiar surroundings with family and friends close by. Particularly when we do not feel well or are weakened physically or mentally, the desire to be comforted by our own familiar surroundings is great. Who doesn’t want to be in their own bed when they don’t feel well?

F A Q s
Here are answers to the most common questions we receive for home nursing care. Please give us a call if you need help (301) 890-7575
Private duty nursing in Maryland is the absolute best alternative when you need help completing those activities of daily living that you used to do without even giving a second thought. One-on-one care could best be thought of as an extension of your thoughts, legs, and hands. The caregiver is there to make your life easier and help you stay as independent as possible so that you can go through the day with a resemblance of the way you did when you were younger.
Convenience and Less Stress
Instead of moving your aging senior into an entirely new place, a home health caregiver can visit them each day to provide assistance for the various needs which are required to help them with their activities of daily living (ADL’s).
Don't Downsize and Keep Your Heirlooms
Another added plus when staying at home, there is no need to downsize. Your senior family member does not need to pick out one dresser, one chair, and a few of their treasured belongings. Staying at home allows them to maintain their family heirlooms and valued possessions. Also gives them a sense of purpose and independence due to a less drastic transition.
Professional Help Right Away
Our caregivers can relieve the difficulties that your loved ones are having with in their day to day routines. They can assist with chores and prepare meals, assist with medication, help with personal hygiene, bathing, and dressing, do laundry and light housework, offer mobility assistance, doctor visits, and much more. Our caregivers are there to assist them to live as comfortably and independent as possible at home.
Live Where You Want To
By having A-1 Action Nursing Care provide you with a home caregiver means allowing your senior relative to stay right where he or she prefers to live, at home.
Client Focused Practice
Our emphasis is solely on care! We focus on the client. Everyone is different, and nursing care and needs vary between clients. We try our hardest to match the correct caregiver with the right client. Should you have any questions regarding our service or care; simply contact the office where you will speak to an owner.
Reliable Nurses with Decades of Experience
Our nursing staff, on average, has been with our agency for twenty years. This is because unlike our competition, they earn a better rate of pay, and our prices are most typically below our competition. This rate structure develops a positive for both parties and creates a better environment for the client's care because the caregivers feel well compensated, and the clients don’t feel overcharged.
We Work with You for a Convenient Billing Cycle
When it is time for billing, we will do our best to create a billing cycle which is more convenient to your liking. Should you have long term care insurance, we can help maneuverer the maze of what is needed to getting this started and assist with the best way of billing, whether you wish to bill or have us do the billing for you.
Give Your Loved One Purpose and Connection
Our goal at A-1 Action Nursing Care is complete the extension of what is missing so that we may give your loved one a purpose and connection to the independence that all of us desire.
If you have an elderly loved one who needs more personal care than you can provide, you may want to consider looking for ways to ensure that they receive the best quality support when you are unavailable.
In-home Nursing Care is the Right Choice
If you are looking for the best option for your loved one, in-home nursing care is the right choice for several reasons. There is no need to downsize, no need to disrupt your relative’s daily routine and no need for the anxiety caused by being uprooted from the comfort of their own home. At A-1 Action Nursing Care, we have been helping families age in place since 1978.
Arranging Home Nursing Care is Simple
Arranging home care does not need to be a difficult task. A simple telephone call to our office can start the entire process. We will ask some general questions regarding address, contacts, date of birth and general diagnosis, then we will help by tailoring the care according to your personal needs. Often a plan of care has been already specified by the doctors office, social worker, or a prior visiting nurse. If this is not the case a family member most usually knows exactly what we can do to make their life easier. And if a plan of care is needed, we can make arrangements to provide one as a guide for the caregivers to follow.
Get the Extra Help you Need
Most people typically prefer to remain at home, familiar with their own surroundings. A-1 Action caregivers are trained, courteous, and skilled nursing staff who travel to the homes of our clients throughout the Washington Metropolitan area providing home health services and giving them as much help as they need with daily chores, mobility, and nursing care.
If you have an elderly loved one who needs more personal care than you can provide, you may want to consider looking for ways to ensure that they receive the best quality support when you are unavailable.
A Better Environment for Continuity of Care
Home care creates a better environment to have continuity of care. Typically your home care is provided by just a couple of caregivers. This also relieves anxiety and makes it easier for your loved one to get to personally know the caregiver that is caring for them. It reduces their stress by having an ongoing relationship and is especially helpful if your loved one is experiencing any dementia. Continuity helps to establish an extremely important connection and companionship that is often absent in an elderly person's day and helps combat isolation.
Private Duty Provides Companionship and Total Care
A private duty home caregiver can provide everything from companionship to total care of all aspects of daily living activities. They are able to assist with shopping, doctor appointments, personal hygiene, medication reminders, meal planning and preparation, dressing, bathing, light housekeeping and laundry. They may also provide assistance with mobility and transfers to help clients/patients remain as independent as possible.
Over 40 Years of Experience and Professionalism
For more than 4 decades A-1 Action Nursing Care has been providing private duty nursing care to families throughout the Washington Metropolitan area. The very family that has been in the office since the business started is here today, to assist you with that personal service to help provide an easier way of dealing with the needs of your aging loved ones.
When your loved one is in need of a little extra assistance with their everyday tasks it is usually a much better adjustment to gradually add home care into their daily routine. Gradually introducing a private duty caregiver to your aging family member or friend could very well be an answer to a multiple amount of issues and concerns. Maybe some companionship, someone to eat a meal with, or some assistance to the doctor would alleviate your worries.
Start Small for a Comfortable Change
At first, start with a few hours per week then increase the days and hours as your family member becomes more comfortable and accepting of the caregiver and realizes that their life is easier with some added help. It is never easy for someone to let a stranger into their home to help them with their personal needs. This can feel intrusive and downright uncomfortable allowing a new face into our personal space. However, the alternative of not having a caregiver help with your daily activities could be even riskier and cause injury.
What Our Caregivers Can Do for You
As an example, A-1 Action Nursing Care began caring for a client a couple of days per week. We started by assisting him to doctor’s appointments, helping him sort through his mail, and accompanying him to dinner for added companionship. As he became more comfortable with his caregivers and his needs increased, his trustee made the decision to add additional hours to his care for his safety and confidence, so he could continue living comfortably in his apartment. This was done very gradually so as not to take his control and independence from him. Eventually, his care was extended to around the clock. We cared for him a little over six years and he remained at home with his freedom and dignity intact.
Private Duty Home Caregivers
A private duty home caregiver is able to provide their clients with as much assistance as needed in helping them perform all of their activities of daily living. They are able to provide a wide range of services from companionship to total care assistance of all aspects and tasks included with daily function. Services provided with home nursing care vary greatly among clients according to their ability to perform certain tasks. The caregiver’s goals and purpose are to help their clients remain as independent and self-confident as possible in their home or facility.
Skilled Expert Care
We could not have made it through those critical first months without their care and compassion. I highly recommend Mark and his team of professionals.

Home Care is Best
Home care offers a unique combination of comfort, personalized attention, and emotional well-being that facilities often can’t match. It helps clients maintain their independence, strengthens family bonds, and often improves health. It’s great to see more people recognizing the value & dignity that home care brings to those who need support.
